 About Sepsis

Sepsis is the body's reaction to an existing infection. Sepsis occurs when there is a chemical imbalance in the body's response to the infection which can lead to things like organ damage, organ failure and death. Due to the high mortality rate of 28%, Sepsis is one of the leading causes of death in hospitals. Some common symptoms of Sepsis include high heart rate, low blood pressure, fever, shivering, feeling very cold, confusion or disorientation, shortness of breath, extreme pain, and clammy or sweaty skin.
